Sometimes in life you meet amazing human beings and then the world all of a sudden seems a happier place to be.

Through the power of social media I met the lovely and extremely talented Spot Scott who is the founder of a delightful brand called Sea & Slate. Spot has been an absolute tonic to chat to during the past 15 weeks in lockdown. We have both been patiently waiting for the social distancing restrictions to be lifted here in Wales and hallelujah holiday cottages can now open their doors to tourists.

Sea & Slate phone line has been red hot with hundreds of booking enquiries and I know Spot has been dancing in her beautiful garden with joy that her super lush business is starting to move in the right direction.

I recently asked Spot, when she had a moment, would she mind describing how she manages to 'Live Life With Ease' in Wild West Wales.

How do you start your day?

I'm a terrible ‘checker of emails/messages’ so sadly that is one of the first things I do (I must try to break the habit!)

We have a ‘small’ smallholding - so I will take the dogs for a walk, check the chickens, pick up their eggs, let the Geese out, check the broody hen and let our (annoyingly noisy) pet Guinea Fowl out of its shed to run free - they are all free range, but are pretty good at staying safe within our boundaries. Oh and then I feed the new kittens!

Have a cuppa!

This is a (relatively!) quiet time for me and is a perfect time to think, plan and reflect on the day ahead…

I will do a mini workout and then have a light breakfast - I may actually speak to my husband - ha ha! I am not very communicative in the mornings (happy to talk to the animals) - he’s a very tolerant man!

How do you relax?

I enjoy getting out onto the beaches which are close by to where we live, it's great to walk along the coastal path and breath the ozone into my lungs.

In the Winter months there is nothing I love more than to light a log fire,  pour a glass of red and snuggle up in front of a classic black & white movie, Betty Davies /Cary Grant /anything David Lean has directed etc - we have a projector and screen which makes the experience all immersive, a great way to escape the world for a while!

What do you do on a daily basis to add a bit of wellbeing into your life?

This is a difficult and interesting question for me. As I hadn’t really thought about what I consciously add to my life in terms of well being. I am extremely privileged and lucky to live where and how we do

I have a pretty balanced life and enjoy the fresh air, the landscapes and beaches that surround us. It's a case of work hard, play hard. We have many wonderful friends and a great social life, so I have a lot to be grateful for.  So in terms of well being, I think we have it sorted!

Wow I think lots of us would like to live a life like Spot. It sounds idyllic and she certainly knows how to live life with ease!

If you would like to know more about Sea & Slate please check out her website and you'll find her posting gorgeous images of her cottages over on Instagram @slatesea

Until the next time

Stay safe

Much love

Tan xx
