WHAT TO EXPECT: A weekend dedicated solely to reading. This experience will broaden your reading horizons, inspire you to reconnect with your inner reader, push your creativity to new heights and help shape the course of your reading life.
In today's fast-paced digital world, a reading retreat offers the chance to unplug from screens and reconnect with the written word. The retreat will offer solace and respite from screens, and the perfect excuse to disconnect from technology and engage in the simple pleasure of reading.
Our days will be spent immersed in reading, discussing books and connecting with our literary selves. We will also experience delicious food and wine, with ample time for curling up with books in cosy reading nooks.
EXCLUSIVE EXTRAS: A literary goody bag: Guests will all be given a goody bag including a book for Saturday’s Silent Book Club (short enough to read on the Saturday afternoon, ahead of a lively discussion the next day) and literary treats to help you on your reading journey.
A bibliotherapy session book prescription: Prior to the retreat, Lucy will send each guest a questionnaire, to find out more about their likes and dislikes, and what they want more of in their reading life. Each guest will then have a 45-minute session with Lucy, during which she will discuss your reading habits and give you a bespoke book prescription. ​

'HOW THE WEEKEND WILL FLOW'​​
Saturday morning: Over brunch we’ll have a lively discussion about all things books: recent recommendations, books that we’ve loved and loathed, and everything in between.
Saturday afternoon: Let’s read. Guests will be encouraged to hand in their phones for our two-hour Silent Book Club, during which time everyone will be encouraged to curl
up in a cosy corner of the hotel to read the book we’ll be discussing over Sunday lunch.
Saturday evening: Guests will be encouraged to read a passage from their favourite book during our open mic in front of the fire.
Sunday morning: Let’s read. Guests will be encouraged to hand in their phone for a morning spent reading a book from their book prescription.
Sunday lunch: A lively book club discussing the book we all read in
Saturday’s Silent Book Club.
Farewell: After the retreat, two beautifully wrapped books will be sent to the guests to help continue their reading journey.
